- Clubs want to play in Welsh League Cup
- Case set to be reviewed by full FA board
WHAT OCCURRED?
Welsh clubs in the English league asked to compete in the Welsh League Cup rather than the English league in an effort to find a simpler route to European competition. Following support from the Football Association of Wales for the clubs concerned, the English FA is scheduled to review the petition.

The case, which was supposed to be examined by a subcommittee, will now be heard by the entire FA board, according to the Daily Mail. This ‘would appear to constitute a blow’ to their chances of switching tournaments, the Mail emphasizes.
The decision was made “due to the importance and significance of the topic,” according to the EFL clubs in question.

Regarding the attempt by the clubs to switch to the Welsh cup, one executive poked fun at them by saying they want to ‘have their Welsh cake and eat it.’
