They are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer. We are in the early stages of our investigation and are still working to establish the full circumstances.”
She has asked anyone driving in the area with information or dash-cam footage of the crash to get in touch with the authorities.

A man released from prison on licence is being sought by police after removing his GPS tag.
Cameron Evans, 32, was granted early release from HMP Onley in September, but he has now violated the terms of his licence. He was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court in March for multiple assault charges and possession of a knife.
Thames Valley Police have stated that Evans is known to frequent Abingdon and Drayton. They urge anyone who sees him not to approach him and to instead call 999.
Evans’s licence has been revoked, and he has been recalled to custody after removing his GPS tag and failing to attend scheduled appointments, police added.
He is described as white, around 5ft 5ins tall, slim, with blue eyes and shaved brown hair.
Detective Constable Michael Hopcroft, who is investigating the case, said: “Cameron Evans was released from HMP Onley on licence with strict conditions and a GPS tag to manage his reintegration into society. Evans has chosen to breach these conditions by removing his GPS tag. We are asking the public for help in locating him and bringing him back into custody.”
Evans, who has no fixed address, had pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by beating, and possession of a knife. He was sentenced to two years in prison.
According to the BBC, Evans was released on 10 September, alongside about 1,700 other prisoners. By 30 September, he would have reached the 50% mark of his sentence.
Offenders who have served 40% of their sentence are eligible for the early release scheme.
A spokesperson for the HM Prison and Probation Service said: “Offenders released on licence are subject to strict conditions, and we do not hesitate to recall them to prison if they break the rules.”
