The two people killed in a fatal car crash in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday evening have been identified.
San Luis Obispo resident Jose Peralta, 49, was driving southbound on Beach Street around 9:30 p.m. and did not stop at a stop sign, police said, crashing into another vehicle that was driving through the intersection on Pismo Street.
Police said the speeding vehicle overturned multiple times, and both Peralta and his passenger, 52-year-old Paso Robles resident Donald Avery Jr., were ejected from the vehicle. They were not wearing seat belts, police said.
They were seriously injured in the crash, police said, and were later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The third passenger in the speeding vehicle was wearing his seat belt and survived the crash with minor injuries, police said, while the woman driving in the second car was sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.
